Accident Scene Management

"Are you a business owner, company director or senior manager? Do you have an accident response plan? Are you aware that the HSE investigation model assumes that accidents are almost always the fault of the employer? Do you understand the dramatic implications for companies and management arising from the Sentencing Guidelines 2015 which came into force on 1st February 2016?"

As from 1st February 2016 the legal landscape with regards to health & safety has undergone a dramatic change, and not just in terms of sentences for corporate manslaughter. Sentences for all health & safety offences will now be based both on the company’s turnover and the potential for harm arising from the offence. To quote from the Guidelines:

“The fine must be sufficiently substantial to have a real economic impact which will bring home to both management and shareholders the need to comply with health and safety legislation.

Now consider that the investigation model used by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) assumes that accidents in the workplace are almost invariably the fault of the company and it soon becomes apparent that health & safety management in general – and dealing with accidents in particular – are issues which companies of all sizes, and their senior management team, can only ignore at their peril.

In the event of an accident you will have to prepare your own defence – nobody will do it for you – but where do you start? What should you do?

This eLearning course, written and presented by a highly qualified industrial accident investigator and UK-accredited safety consultant, gives you a wide overview of what you need to do, from emergency planning to taking statements and preparing the final report.

We hope you never need this information, but if there’s an accident in your workplace you’ll thank us!
